I want to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy New Year! My most fervent wish and prayer is that 2024 brings peace to the many sad places around the world that have been mired in war and conflict. I also pray that leaders emerge who can trumpet the urgent need to bring people together to solve our most pressing global problems, and that their voices drown out those who seek money and power through divisiveness.
Our individual voices may be small, but together we can shift the world!
But, we also need to take time to nurture our personal relationships and our own mental and physical health. I’m spending the time between Christmas and New Year’s with family and friends and I hope you have the opportunity to do the same.
One of my favorite leisure activities is reading and learning. I’m busy plowing my way through a digital stack of new novels. I’ve also enjoyed discovering a few recent articles highlighting the culture and history of Central Asia.
